Game 3 Preview: 04/08 Padres @ Dodgers

After notching their first victory of the season last night, the Padres are itching for the series win. They'll get the chance tonight as they close up the series against the Dodgers and go for their first series win at Chavez Ravine in six tries.

Andrew Cashner will get the ball in the series finale and he'll look to build on an impressive career at the L.A. ballpark. In 17 games (six starts) at Dodger Stadium, Cashner has posted a 1.53 ERA through 53 total innings. His record in those 17 games, a sad 1-2, is unsurprisingly due to a lack of run support for the right-hander. But as we've seen so far this series, and as we anticipated throughout the offseason, the Padres offense is much more potent this season and we can expect much more support to back Cashner's pitching tonight.

Over the first two games  in L.A., the Padres offense has held up to the stardards we placed on them to start the season. In the opener we saw they score three runs against one of the toughest pitchers in the majors. Last night we saw them come from behind to take the late victory.

Tonight they'll go against Brandon McCarthy, who's had his share of success against San Diego. In 2014, he posted a 2.61 ERA in three starts against the Padres, including a seven-inning shutout in May. He'll be backed by a Dodgers offense that continues to be a pest to San Diego pitching.

Game time is set for 7:10 pm PT and you can catch it Fox Sports San Diego or ESPN 2 in English, ESPN Deportes in Spanish, or on the radio at The Mighty 1090 (English) and XEMO 860 (Spanish).
