Game 23 Preview: 04/29 Padres vs. Astros

The Padres were on the wrong end of the most lopsided game in Petco Park history last night. The 14-3 loss resulted in the home team dropping to 11-11 on the season and in third place in the NL West.

This afternoon Andrew Cashner will try to get the team back in the win column as he goes up against Houston's ace, Dallas Keuchel. Cashner has been particularly stingy at home, keeping opponents to two runs or fewer in 20 straight starts at Petco Park. He'll try to extend that streak, a franchise record that dates back to June of 2013, against one of the hottest teams in baseball.

The Astros, at 13-7, lead the AL West after winning five in a row and nine of their last ten games. And so far this season Keuchel has been unstoppable on the mound. He's held the offense scoreless through 28 of his 29 innings pitched so far this season, amounting to a 2-0 record and 0.62 ERA.

The Padres will suit up in some beautiful retro jerseys today for Wayback Wednesday and first pitch at Petco Park is at 12:40 pm PT.
