Another night, another couple Padres arms savaged by home runs. Evan Gattis hit a 2-run bomb to center field in the first inning. Wil Myers got a glove on it, but couldn't keep it from going out. Chris Carter had a solo shot in the sixth, and then George Springer put a dent in the third floor of the Western Metal Building in the seventh. And yeah, it was a bad night at Petco Park. It's shaping up to be a bad homestand in general. But Tyson Ross is not a bad pitcher. Odrisamer Despaigne is not a bad pitcher. This is a slump, and slumps end.
And as far as slumps go, this isn't even a terrible one. The offense has still been largely productive. Wil Myers and Justin Upton put up their 4th and 6th homers of the year, respectively. Yangervis Solarte (who's also been swinging a hot bat) and Alexi Amarista came up with a couple fantastic stops in the fourth inning. The team is still at .500. And if that's still not enough to quell any panic you may be feeling, remember this: There are still one hundred forty games left in the season.
Keep.
The.
Faith.
Andrew Cashner gets the start tomorrow at 12:40 PM. If you can, get down to the ballpark to catch our own Bobby Cressey playing the organ!
