The Padres are in first place in the NL West!

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

How about them Padres?  After last night's win the team is tied for 3rd place for best start in franchise history after 15 games with a 10-5 record. Today, more importantly, they find themselves tied for first place for the first time since the first game of 2014.  That's a lot of "firsts" in that sentence, but in truth the Padres haven't been in first place for any considerable amount of time since the 2010 season.

They spent a few games in first at the very beginning of the season in 2011 and 2014, but now it appears they've really fought and earned their ranking.  The trick will be to hold on to it for as long as possible OR they can draft off of the Dodgers and then pass them at the season.  Whichever gets them the Division Champion
