How Padres batters have fared vs. Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Sometimes before a Padres game I like to check how position players on the active roster have fared against that day's opposing starting pitcher. It's largely pointless with young pitchers, but Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa has been around for over a decade, so there should be some substantial numbers in there somewhere.

PA AB H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K BA OBP SLG OPS
Yonder Alonso 8 8 1 0 0 0 0 0 3 .125 .125 .125 .250
Alexi Amarista 9 9 3 0 0 0 1 0 1 .333 .333 .333 .667
Clint Barmes 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .000 .000 .000 .000

Matt Kemp 42 39 15 4 1 3 12 2 4 .385 .405 .769 1.174
Wil Nieves 9 8 5 2 0 0 2 1 0 .625 .667 .875 1.542
Yangervis Solarte 6 6 2 1 0 0 0 0 1 .333 .333 .500 .833
Justin Upton 24 19 7 1 0 0 0 5 5 .368 .500 .421 .921
Will Venable 7 7 1 0 0 0 0 0 2 .143 .143 .143 .286

It's encouraging that the three players with a double-digit amount of plate appearances have raked against De La Rosa, as has Nieves, who could go 0-for-his-next-12 versus De La Rosa and still have a better batting average against him than his career mark (.243).
