Game 5 Preview: 04/10 Padres vs. Giants

It's about time for the Padres to get back in the win column after back-to-back losses and a 1-3 record to start the season.

Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

The first home game of the season ended unfortunately for the Padres as they fell to the Giants1-0 in a 12-inning thriller. Today they'll be looking to even up the series against a pitcher who's done some unspeakable things to Padres in the past.

Tim Lincecum makes the start for San Francisco, looking to extend his undefeated record against San Diego to nine straight games. In his last eight, he's gone 7-0 with a 2.01 ERA, including not one but two no-hitters. The Padres, despite having added a ton of offense to their roster this year, were kept scoreless in the 2015 opener against the Giants yesterday.

The Padres will give the ball to a pitcher who was selected in the same round as Lincecum -  and five picks earlier. Brandon Morrow makes his Petco Park debut in tonight's matchup. Morrow made only six starts in 2014, then a torn tendon spelled him until September, after which he made seven relief appearances for the Blue Jays. Overall, he went 1-3 with a 5.67 ERA.

Gametime at Petco Park is 7:05 pm PT.
