Despaigne has worked all Spring long to prove himself worthy of the Padres' fifth rotation spot. He pitched in five games (three starts), totaling 17 innings of work. He gave up six runs (four earned) and collected 11 strikeouts. According to Corey Brock, the team may not even make a decision until after the breaking of camp. But if you ask me, Despaigne and his buddy have made a pretty good case.
