Hunter Renfroe AFL Interview

Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Hunter Renfroe was one of 6 players reassigned by the Padres Monday. The Padres' first round draft selection in 2013 was hitless in 8 Cactus League at-bats with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Renfroe did blast a bomb in a "B" game against the Rangers. Last week, MLB Pipelines’ Jim Callis discussed Renfroe’s status as the Padres best prospect and the 49th best prospect in baseball. In honor of Renfroe’s reassignment to minor league camp, I give you a highlight reel from Renfroe’s Arizona Fall League performance. In the AFL, Renfroe finished tied for first in HR (6), third in RBI (20), and third in OPS (.914) in 26 games and 102 AB. His big arm in right field also earned league wide accolades. I was covering the AFL for GaslampBall back in November, and I interviewed Renfroe on the field after a game where he hit both an inside-the-park and a conventional home run. He’s a very likeable guy, very personable, and I pity any fastball that gets in his way. I believe Renfroe will put the necessary polish on his raw power to be a star slugger in the near future.
