Tyson Ross and Blake Smith show off their basketball trick shots

March Madness is in the air at Spring Training.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Padres right-ander Tyson Ross and Dodgers outfielder-turned-pitcher Blake Smith played baseball together at UC Berkeley. These days, they are both playing in the Cactus League for Spring Training. With their teams' facilities only 18 minutes apart, it makes sense that the former college teammates would room together out in Arizona. And it looks like they're having some fun with it.

It all started with a challenge.

And boy did Tyson rebut.

All of this is very reminiscent of former Friars Matt Antonelli and Wade Leblanc, who showed off their Nerf basketball skills five years ago and became internet sensations. Antonelli even got some face time on ESPN's First Take for his endeavors.

It seems like a lot of the Padres are really into basketball.

And it's not just the players. Buddy Black and AJ Preller have been known to get into it as well.

Surprisingly I haven't seen or heard anything about Will Venable hoopin' out at Spring Training. Perhaps that part of his life is over. He played basketball at Princeton, you know.
