The news has been coming since late Sunday night, but it's finally here. The Padres have officially announced the signing of James Shields. Shields will get four years and $75 million, with a $16 million club option for a fifth year.

There is still the matter of making room for him on the 40-man roster, but that announcement is yet to come.
