It's floppy hat night at the ballpark! I love me a floppy hat, but tonight I'll be rocking my Padres fanny pack in the crowd at the Weezer concert in Del Mar instead. In honor of the event, and with Ian Kennedy returning and our Padres getting ready to take on the Braves tonight, I wrote some alternate lyrics for Weezer's newest song.
The trade deadline came and went just fine and Kennedy went untouched
Some thought he'd go to an AL team, but his oblique just sucked
He ended up staying with the team, so no need to be glum
Tonight he'll pitch to Atlanta and make their hitters feel so dumb
Ian's back, back to attack
Back to the mound for Buddy Black
Padres, score ten runs more
Beat the Braves like it's '84
Let's turn up the radio
Turn off Enberg, he's gotta go
Braves offense is gonna blow
Ian's back
He finally settled down on the mound after his season started off bad
He had to go and make a few mistakes but recently he's been rad
He's getting all of these batters out and we don't expect he'll fail
Been undefeated since the end of June and he's no longer for sale
Ian's back, back to attack
Back to the mound for Buddy Black
Padres, score ten runs more
Beat the Braves like it's '84
Let's turn up the radio
Turn off Enberg, he's gotta go
Braves offense is gonna blow
Ian's back
He belongs with the Padres
There is so much faith to keep
If the season ends in obscurity, oh well
At least we raised some hell
Ian's back, back to attack
Back to the mound for Buddy Black
Padres, score ten runs more
Beat the Braves like it's '84
Let's turn up the radio
Turn off Enberg, he's gotta go
Braves offense is gonna blow
Ian's back
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
