After dropping three of four in St. Louis and then taking Monday off, our Padres continue their road trip tonight back in Southern California with a three-game set at Dodger Stadium.
On the mound for San Diego will be Ian Kennedy, coming off his first August win. He gave up three earned runs on six hits (including a home run) and two walks, but struck out eight batters along the way. Tonight's outing will be his fourth against the Dodgers this season. He struggled in his first two, allowing a combined eight runs through ten innings of work, but he was spectacular in his most recent matchup against them on July 12th, tossing eight scoreless innings of three-hit ball while collecting eight strikeouts. That game also took place at Dodger Stadium, where Kennedy has kept the Dodgers to just two runs on nine hits in his last 20 2/3 innings.
Our Friars will be seeking their fourth victory in their 11th game against L.A. this season, and they'll be doing so against the familiar face of Kevin Correia. They've already faced the former Padre twice earlier this season, when he was a member of the Twins. In each of those outings, he gave up three runs in six innings. Three days after the most recent of those starts, he became a Dodger, where he expected to mainly help out of the bullpen. But he's now getting his second start for L.A. due to Hyun-Jin Ryu's placement on the disabled list.
The series kicks off at 7:10 PT tonight.
