Since breaking out and outscoring the Giants 13-2 over their first two games in San Francisco a week ago, our Padres are back to their light-hitting ways. Tonight they'll begin what looks to be a tough series against the Reds at home. And tonight's matchup should be an interesting one.
On the mound for San Diego will be young righty Jesse Hahn. The rookie is 3-1 over his first four starts as a major leaguer. He's the winner of three straight and the lucky recipient of 14 runs of support over that three-game stretch. Hahn hasn't really need that much support, however, as he has held his own, posting a 0.95 ERA during his winning streak. But today he'll be facing a Reds team who's won their last five series, including a four-game sweep on the road against the Giants this past weekend. They're also riding a five-game winning streak going into this series in San Diego.
Cincinnati will put the ball in he hands of former Friar Mat Latos, who is looking for his second straight win. Latos has missed most of the season due to elbow and knee surgeries, but his recent success as well as his career success against the Padres, bode well for him. In 13 innings against his former team at Petco Park Latos has given up only two runs while collecting 14 strikeouts. This time around he'll be facing a Padres team that has batted a collective .130 in their last four games while going 3-1 in that span.
Tune in at 7:10 PDT to see how our Padres fare against Latos and whether or not Jesse Hahn's hot streak can continue.
