04/09 Padres Preview: Game 9 @ Indians (Game 2 of doubleheader)

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODA

Next up in today's doubleheader will be Robbie Erlin pitching opposite dmslamfklsamklfsa. Erlin was scheduled to pitch the series opener on Monday before it was rained out. Now he'll make his first start of the year and second overall outing as the Padres try to end the series in the win column. Erlin earned the spot in the rotation after Josh Johnson landed on the DL. The southpaw went 3-3 in 11 games (9 starts) last season, posting a 4.12 ERA. He made an appearance in the game against the Dodgers last Wednesday, pitching 2/3 of an inning in relief. This will be his first career start against Cleveland.

The doubleheader allows each team to add a 26th man to their roster for the day. While the Padres called up recently-acquired Bobby LaFromboise as an extra lefty arm for the bullpen, the Indians will use their 26th player to start the series finale this afternoon. Trevor Bauer was recalled from Triple-A Columbus for the doubleheader so he'll take the mound for Cleveland rather than make his scheduled minor league start. Bauer made five spot starts for the big league club in 2013, going 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA
