Game Thread: 04/24 Padres @ Nationals

If you're reading this, Jeffrey Jay Gowan, Dex says hi.

Patrick McDermott

We didn't exactly have a strong start to the road trip, going 1-2 in Milwaukee. Padres fans are losing their sh_t over the team's lack of hitting to back up such strong pitching to start the season. We're 33 games into the season, two games under .500, and three games out of first place.

The Gaslamp Ballmanac tells us that San Diego historically has a 56.41 winning percentage on April 24th, going 22-17 in 39 games all-time on this date. They'll have to get to Zimmermann today to better that record and give Stultsy a good showing of support.

Alexi Amarista gets the day off today. Seth Smith, Will Venable, and Chris Denorfia will make up our starting outfielder trip while Yonder Alonso, Jedd Gyorko, Chase Headley, and Everth Cabrera man the infield. Yasmani Grandal will call the game behind the dish and bat in the cleanup spot. Meanwhile our old friend Jayson Werth will hit in the 3-spot for the Nats and get the start in right field. Wonder if his dad is watching tonight and thinking about his favorite bloggers over here at GLB.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
