Spending the last week in the Arizona heat watching some good baseball, I have to admit my pride in our organization has only grown.
After watching the White Sox, Rockies, Angels, Athletics, Diamondbacks, Reds, Cubs and Padres, I must exclaim without bias that the Padres vs Cubs March 25th game at Peoria was the most interesting by far. Though I must also admit that I wish I could have seen several heavy hitters that didn't play in that game, including Tommy Medica, who only made an appearance prior to the game to accept his Peoria Diamond Club Rookie of Spring award and to DH once.
I did get to catch up with a few familiar faces. Travis Jankowski, Cory Spangenberg, and Robert Kral - all faces I'm used to seeing at fields closer to home - were in action that particular game. Always nice to chat off the field.
The game was fun, but quick, and we ended up walking out with a foul ball from Kyle Blanks! However, the game did get called as a tie, which I'm not a huge fan of since I do not reside in JAPAN!
Thankfully Spring Training is done, and no more ties will be had. Good ol' fashioned baseball will begin, thank goodness!
Here we go Padre Nation! Let the season begin!
