Giants 13, Padres 5: Petco Finally Hosts Home Run Derby

Guess everybody was tired of close games.

Man, that thing got outta here in a hurry. Anything that travels that far oughta have a damn stewardess on it, don't you think?

So the big news today is that Chase Headley changed his walkup music, which is obviously why he hit a homer off of Tim Lincecum in the fifth inning. He might has well have been trying to put out a forest fire with a squirt gun, though. The Giants hammered Eric Stults for 7 runs (including 3 homers) in his 5.2 innings of work. The bullpen didn't fare much better, as Pablo Sandoval hit a home run off Brad Brach. And then another one while facing Brad Boxberger. And then got the hat trick against Dale Thayer. So, y'know, I'm just going to relish the fact that we won the series, have a beer, and enjoy tomorrow's off day.

Burch Smith gets another shot tomorrow as he opens the series against the Rockies' Juan Nicasio at 7:10 PM Friday. Get there early for Beerfest!
