09/28 Padres Preview: Game 161 @ San Francisco

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The Padres play their penultimate game of the season this afternoon and need a win to even up the series. Eric Stults will take the mound and try to continue his recent success and finish his up-and-down season on a strong note. The lefty has gone 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA in his last three starts. In his most recent outing, he kept the Diamondbacks to just one run in 6 1/3 innings of work. Stults' last loss came on September 4th against this Giants team. He was tagged for seven runs and failed to escape the fifth inning.

Stults' opponent tonight will be right-hander Yusmeiro Petit, who has been a bright spot in a disappointing season for San Francisco. He will try to build on his previous success at AT&T Park, where he's 1-0 in three starts this season. That includes a near-perfect game on September 6th, when he gave up one hit and issued no walks while striking out seven in a complete-game shutout against the Dbacks.

Tune in for at 1:10 today to see if the Padres can keep hope alive for a series win.
