08/25 Padres Preview: Game 130 vs. Cubs

The Padres were unable to secure the series win last night, dropping the second of their three-game set. Today they'll try to close out the series, and the homestand, on a high note.

Andrew Cashner will make the start for San Diego as he tries, for his sixth straight home game, to limit his opponent to two runs our less. He'll be facing his former team for the second time this season and the third time in his career. He hasn't had much success in the past, though, going 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA all-time against the Cubs.

Taking the hill for Chicago today will be Chris Rusin. The young southpaw, in his first career start against the Padres, will try to help the Cubs avoid their 11th loss in 14 games and put together consecutive wins for the first time in more than two weeks. He had been great on the road lately, going 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in his last three road starts. Gee comes into today's game having kept opponents scoreless for 13 straight innings on the road.

The action kicks off at 1:10 this afternoon.
