Rockies 1-0
3rd Inning
After a single by Ronny Cedeno and a sacrifice by Cashner, Chris Denorfia came through with a single to score Cedeno and tie the game.
TIE GAME 1-1
Rockies untied the game. Dexter Fowler singled to left field to lead off the inning. Corey Dickerson tripled to left to score the runner and then scored on a Tulowitzki single.
Rockies 3-1
4th Inning
Jedd Gyorko continued his extra base streak with a double. Jesus Guzman applauded the effort with an RBI single to put the Padres within 1 run.
Rockies 3-2
5th Inning
Will Venable singled to bring his hitting streak to 11 games. America’s Finest City’s Sweetheart, I tell you.
Andrew Cashner retired the Rockies on 6 pitches. 3 of those pitches were part of a strikeout. That’s quality pitching.
6th Inning
Weirdest double play ever. I said I wasn't going to write about it in the Game Thread, but I think I have to. With Jedd Gyorko and Jesus Guzman on the corners, Logan Forsythe grounded to Nolan Arenado at 3rd base. Arenado threw home to get Gyorko on his way to the plate. As the rundown ensued, Guzman made his way around 2nd and towards 3rd base. Well, Gyorko was heading back to 3rd base as well. As soon as the catcher Yorvit Torrealba tagged Gyorko a few feet from 3rd, he dove in front of the base to tag Jesus as he slid into him. 2 outs in 1 strange play.
7th Inning
Cashner retired his 14th batter in a row to finish his final inning of the game. 7 strong innings allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits and raking in 7 strikeouts while giving up no walks. It's his 2nd start in 3 games in which he surrendered no walks.
8th Inning
Dale Thayer entered the game for Cashner. Dexter Fowler singled and stole second base before being singled in by Corey Dickerson for the 4th Rockie run of the afternoon.
Rockies 4-2
9th Inning
Rex Brothers came in for the save and sat the Padres down as quick as they came up to the plate. Game over.
Padres have dropped 3 straight series' with the loss today. Tomorrow, the Padres return home to Petco Park for a 10 game homestand that begins with 4 game series against the New York Mets. Tyson Ross will face rookie left hander Zack Wheeler at 7:10pm. Win that game, Padres!
