Reds Batters vs. Eric Stults: A History

USA TODAY Sports

I already took a look at how current Padres hitters have fared against today's Reds starter Homer Bailey, so it only seemed right to do the flip and see how guys on the Cincinnati roster have done against Padres starter Eric Stults. He won his only start against the Reds, but that was back in 2008 and with some other team, so whatever. His three other career appearances against Cincinnati all came last year as a reliever for San Diego. I'm doing this at like four in the morning, therefor have no idea who's going to be in either team's starting lineups, so I just looked up everybody on the active roster. It's probably no surprise that less than half of the Reds have faced Stults and of the ones who have, they all have ridiculously small sample sizes. That said, I already looked up these numbers so I'm going to present them.

Jay Bruce: 1-4, BB, K
Zack Cozart: 1-3, RBI
Todd Frazier: 0-1
Xavier Paul: 0-2, K
Brandon Phillips: 1-3, K
Joey Votto: 1-3

Shin-Soo Choo, Jack Hannahan, Chris Heisey, Cesar Izturis, Devin Mesoraco, Corky Miller, and Derrick Robinson have never faced Stults. At day's end, some of them will no longer be able to say that. Let's hope they still can't say they've got a hit off of him then, though.
