The Padres will go for their second straight series win today as they finally close out their ten-game road trip. Tyson Ross will try to follow up his return to the rotation last Tuesday with a solid outing against the Diamondbacks in the series finale. Ross has just one scoreless inning of experience against Arizona so he'll be pitching against a bunch of new faces and bats at Chase Field. On Tuesday, his first major league start since April, he tossed six solid innings of one-run ball against the Brewers. It was his first win as a Padre as well as his first win since May 2012.
The Dbacks will counter with southpaw Patrick Corbin, who has won each of his last three starts and is seeking his 13th win of the season. Over that three-start stretch, Corbin has posted a 1.31 ERA and collected 26 strikeouts through 20 2/3 innings while keeping batters to a .184 average. He has already faced the Padres twice this season, winning both times while giving up a combined four earned (five total) runs in 13 innings. The Dbacks are 18-2 with Corbin on the mound this season and the lefty is undefeated (8-0) in 11 starts at home.
San Diego currently leads the season series against the Dbacks 7-4.
