07/27 Padres Preview: Game 105 @ Arizona

Andrew Cashner pitches opposite Tyler Skaggs in game 2.

The Padres helped the Diamondbacks retake the top spot in the NL West last night in the series opener at Chase Field. Today they'll try to bounce back from their trouncing and even up the series.

Andrew Cashner will get the call in the second of the three-game set in Arizona. Cashner is 1-0 in four career starts against the Dbacks and also has a win against them in relief. He is coming off a victory in Milwaukee that ended a string of five starts in which the Padres lost. He started his night against the Brewers with a 35-pitch first inning, but settled down after that. He ended up allowing just three runs on three hits while striking out six batters through six frames. He's thrown six quality starts in his last eight appearances and hasn't given up a home run since June 6th.

The Dbacks will send Tyler Skaggs to the mound to try to secure their third straight series win at home against the Padres. The lefty is 2-2 this season with a 4.11 ERA. He struggled in his two career starts against San Diego, giving up nine runs, and allowing 16 baserunners through eight combined innings. Lately he's had trouble with the long ball. He allowed two homers for the third time in five outings on Monday when he faced the Cubs.
