Dean of Swing Represents Padres at Triple-A All Star Game

... and he actually gets some playing time!

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Tucson Padres originally had three players selected for the roster in the Triple-A All Star Game. As it turned out, two of those players ended up being called up to join the big league club before the game. Rene Rivera was promoted after Yasmani Grandal's season-ending knee injury. The following week, Colt Hynes was called up to join the Padres bullpen. That left infielder Dean Anna to join the rest of the Pacific Coast League All Stars in last night's All-Star Game.

Unlike our MLB All Star, Everth Cabrera, our sole representative last night actually got some playing time. Anna entered the game, playing second base, in the top of the 6th and stayed in it until the end. In his first at-bat, he hit a groundout that allowed the runner ahead of him to advance to third base. He also grounded out in his his second and final at-bat in the bottom of the 9th.

The PCL Team fell to the International League All-Stars with a score of 3-4.
