07/12 Padres Preview: Game 94 vs. San Francisco

PItching matchup for tonight's game between the Padres and Giants.

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

After the Giants took game 1 last night, the Padres will try to even things up tonight as they send Sean O'Sullivan to the mound to make his debut for the big league club. The right-hander and San Diego native spent four years in the majors pitching for the Royals and Angels before becoming a Padre. In that time, he pitched in 43 games (34 starts), going 10-14 with a 6.13 ERA. This season he's made 18 starts for Triple-A Tucson and gone 7-4 with a 3.88 ERA. O'Sullivan has one outing of experience against San Francisco. He tossed a solid seven innings and allowed just one run on five hits to earn the win.

O'Sullivan will face Chad Gaudin, who makes his first appearance since he was charged with open and gross lewdness stemming from an incident back in January. The former Padre is making his sixth start as a member of the Giants rotation and will try to build on his success so far. He is 2-1 with a 2.44 ERA over his first five starts and has kept opponents to two earned runs or less in all but one outing. He pitched previously against San Diego this season, giving up just one run in four innings of work.
