I was reading this CBS article over the weekend about how the Marlins Are On Pace To Be The Worst Team Ever. The Marlins were 6-22 in May and the author of the article compares them to the 1962 Mets (40-120) who were 9-26 in May.
I wanted to see how the Padres compared. Sure enough they've had a worse May than both teams. In 2003 the Padres were 6-23.
Curious as I am, I decided to figure out the worst months in Padres history. Just to give a decent sample size I only collected months with at least 20 games played. Here's the results:

Notice how badly the inaugural 1969 Padres tanked in June, July and August. At this point, 57 games into the season, they had a respectable 24 wins (42.11%). Not too bad. As a point of reference the current 2013 team has 26 wins. But over the three months of summer they only won 19 games total. Oof!
If you're like me, then now you're probably wondering about the best months in history. I've got you covered there too. As you may expect the 1998 World Series team holds several spots.

Who remembers that magical May of 2005? It was our first year of blogging. No one? I'll have to try and dig up an old blog post from back then. What about August of last year? Still no one?
