Game Thread: 06/14 Padres vs. Diamondbacks

May the spirit of the 1998 National League Championship team flow through this 2013 team tonight. Bring it on, NL West.

Denis Poroy

It's '90s Night at the ballpark as our Padres honor the 15th anniversary of the 1998 NL Championship team. Members of that 1998 team will be in attendance and signing autographs pre-game. Our boys will be sporting throwback jerseys and the FSSD broadcast will go retro, with '90s graphics and flashbacks, as well as Mel Proctor and Tony Gwynn returning to the booth to call the game with Mark Grant.

Tonight begins a stretch of ten games against division rivals. Our Padres could make up a lot of ground in the standings during those ten games. And despite some recent bad luck injury-wise, this team has been great to watch. First step is to make it to .500, and that begins tonight.

Finally, Happy Birthday to Jesus Guzman!! Let's get the man a win!

Padres winning percentage on June 14th, via Gaslamp Ballmanac: 43.90% (18-23)

Lineups: We've got speed leading off the top of the lineup tonight with Cabrera and Amarista. Then Headley and Quentin will provide power in the 3- and 4-spots. Dbacks manager Gibson received a one-game suspension for his part in the brawl against the Dodgers Tuesday night, so bench coach Trammell will take the helm against San Diego tonight.
