Padres 5, Marlins 1: Team of Destiny wins 10 of 13

The Padres are really starting to click. They're now 10-3 over the last 13 games.

USA TODAY Sports

1st Inning

Everth Cabrera led off the game with a walk. Headley singled him to third with the help of an error and Yonder Alonso drove him in by hitting into a double play.

1-0 Padres

2nd Inning

My favorite Padre Jedd Gyorko singled to center field to set the stage for probably the weirdest play of the game. Will Venable hit a home run into the Petco Porch, but didn't realize it. Marlins right fielder Marcell Ozuna lost sight of the ball while it went way over his head. Neither he or Venable could really figure out what happened. Of course that's when ex-Pad Squad Andre came to visit us and he blocked my view. If it wasn't for the replay on the board, I'd still be confused.

The Padres weren't done. Alexi Amarista doubled to left field and scored on an Everth Cabrera single.

4-0 Padres

4th Inning

Marcell Osuna doubled on a soft line drive to Venable in right field. That scored Matt Diaz who had doubled to start the inning.

4-1 Padres

8th Inning

Yonder Alonso singled to right then stole second base. When he slid he took out Cris Valaika's glove hand advanced to third. Valaika was pulled from the game. I'm not sure of his status. Venable grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Alonso.

5-1 Padres

Good times.
