Last night's paid attendance is 4th lowest in Petco Park history

It seems like a big deal is being made of the Padres low attendance last night. That's probably because the actual attendance and the number of walk up ticket buyers were much lower due to it raining most of the day in San Diego. A good portion of Padres fans probably didn't want to get wet or sit through a rain delay. Mondays too are second only to Wednesdays in terms of lowest attendance at Petco Park.

Tonight's paid attendance of 14,596 is the fourth-lowest in Petco Park history.

I don't think it's a matter of fans giving up on the team, hell they've won 9 of the last 12 games. Still it's true it was the 4th lowest paid attendance.

If you look at the 10 lowest attended games below, you'll see that all but one occurred either in May or September, the lowest attended months. Four of those games were played between May 2 and May 6. All occurred in either 2009 or 2010 except last night. Also notice that the Padres have won all four of their lowest attended games. I'm telling you, if you want the Padres to win, don't attend games.
