Did you guys see that game? Me too. This Padres team may be seeing the better side of .500 soon. Who'd have thunk it? Just little ol' me.
Jodes0405 made a bunch of animated gifs so I'm going to put them to use in this here recap. You can thank her by recommending this post, so that I get all the credit. She wants it that way. Let's go!
1st Inning
It's always a good sign when the Padres score first. Chase Headley did just that. He singled sharply to right field scoring Everth Cabrera who's been an absolute terror on the base paths as of late. I like Headley, though I hate to admit it because everybody likes him. It's such a cliche thing to say, but the dude sure can play some base--
Aww, shit. In the bottom of the first Headley bobbles the ball and allows Yadier Molina to score from third. Just when I was going to say something nice about him too. That's okay, because he did this too. Dude thinks he's Ken Caminiti.
1-1
3rd Inning
St. Louis took the lead in the 3rd when Allen Craig grounded into a double play that allowed Carlos Beltran to score. Boring!
2-1 Cardinals
6th Inning
You know who Padres fans have mocked and hated over the years? Chris Denorfia. You know who's awesome? Chris Denorfia. Go figure. Watch and learn mutha effers.
Denorfia singled in the 6th to score Carolos Quentin. Quentin was running so fast that he started rolling like Sonic the Hedgehog or something. That dude is crazy.
Then moments later Jesus Guzman took a pitch off of his right forearm with the bases loaded, scoring Jedd Gyorko. Guzman forgot to act like it didn't hurt.
3-2 Padres
7th inning
Will Venable finally got around to hitting that homerun he owes us. 'Bout time.
I must have fast forwarded through this game of roshambo for who plays center field. Someone enlighten me.
9th inning
Closer Huston Street came in to save the game.
