The Padres have the day off but the kids have a full slate. I'll make this brief since one of the games is already underway.
In progress: Ft. Wayne TinCaps @ West Michigan Whitecaps
The TinCaps stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second but West Michigan evened it up in the bottom of the inning and kept piling on the next two innings. Starter Erik Cabrera went 3.2 innings for Ft. Wayne, giving up eight runs, all earned, on eight hits and three walks. DH Mallex Smith and 3B Diego Goris each have a pair of hits for the TinCaps.
5:05pm: San Antonio Missions v. Springfield Cardinals
Wifredo Boscan gets his first start of the young season for San Antonio. The 23-year-old righty came over from Texas in the offseason in exchange for Cory Burns, who the team acquired for Aaron Cunningham. The trade chain goes back to Josh Barfield; I'll let you figure out the middle part. The Missions look to get back above .500 after yesterday's loss in the series opener dropped them to 2-2.
5:35pm: Tucson Padres @ Colorado Springs Sky Sox
22-year-old Keyvius Sampson takes the hill for the first time as a member of the Tucson team after a rocky 2012 in San Antonio. The TuPads are in the hunt for their second win of the season after getting their first last night over Salt Lake. Kyle Blanks hit his first home run and Travis Buck drove in four runs in the 9-1 victory. Thad Weber was on point, allowing only five baserunners and one run in his five innings of work.
7:00pm: Lake Elsinore Storm @ Lancaster Jethawks
Lefty Brandon Alger gets the ball for the Storm as they look to bounce back from a tough 10 inning loss to Rancho Cucamonga. Lake Elsinore starter Matt Jackson went five strong innings, allowing one run on four hits. Lee Orr put the Storm's only run on the board with a solo homer.
As always, live audio is available for free via each team's official site.
