Padres again tied for worst start in franchise history

Last week the Padres were tied for their worst start in franchise history after 12 games. During a sweep of the Dodgers they grabbed fist fulls of dirt and pulled themselves out of the hole they had dug for themselves. With Headley back in the lineup and the team fired up after the Quentin brawl, I swore the team wouldn't even sniff the bottom of the barrel again. I was wrong.

Five losses in a row and the team is right back to where it started. They've tripped and fallen back into the hole in preparation for the long dirt nap.

Comparing last week's table with this week's, it appears the 2013 team is keeping pace with the 1987 team. Coincidentally the 1987 team was the last to reach double digit wins. It took them 40 games to get 10 wins.

If there's any bright side to this, it's that the 2012 team only had 6 wins at this point in the season. They had a good second half and finished with 76 wins, but boy that first half was a stinker.
