Giants 2, Padres 0: Padres Shut Out For First Time

Padres pitching did well while the offense did nothing.

With Clayton Richard a bit busy vomiting up a storm, Andrew Cashner took the hill and had a pretty good line: two hits, one walk, and five strikeouts in four innings. It even looks okay when you consider that one of those hits was a two run homer by Pablo Sandoval. But it was all the Giants needed to win the game. Even though the Padres outhit their opponent 5-3, they went an awful 1-7 with runners in scoring position and struck out 9 times. If you're looking for a silver lining to this game, the pitching staff did well in a tough situation and it took 17 games for the guys to be shut out.

The road trip ends tomorrow as Eric Stults takes on Barry Zito at 1:05 PM.
