Padres 7, Dodgers 2: Padres complete sweep

USA TODAY Sports

These Padres games are so long and I'm so tired. I'm going to start writing this recap before the game actually ends. Hopefully it will be over when I finish. Let's go!

3rd Inning

In the Dodgers half of the 3rd, Adrian Gonzalez hit a sac fly to score Carl Crawford. Jesus Guzman made an amazing catch reaching over the wall along the 3B line. Vin Scully was really impressed that a player unfamiliar with the field would make such a catch. Adrian gave Guzman a mopey look.

1-0 Dodgers

4th Inning

The Padres answered back right away. Everth Cabrera homered to left field off Dodger starter Clayton Kershaw. Next, Chase Headley who was back in the lineup for the first time this season, drew a walk. Guzman singled sending Headley to 3B. Yonder Alonso walked to load the bases. Unfortunately Jedd Gyorko then hit into a double play that fortunately scored Headley. Up next was Kyle Blanks who singled to left, scoring Guzman.

3-1 Padres

5th Inning

Chris Denorfia homered off Kershaw to left field.

4-1 Padres

6th Inning

Kyle Blanks homered off Kershaw to left field too. Nick Hundley followed with a single that knocked Kershaw out of the game.

5-1 Padres

7th Inning

The 7th started with a Cabrera double. Cabrera then stole 3B with Mark Kotsay at the plate. Kotsay then singled to score Cabrera.

6-1 Padres

8th Inning

In the 8th the Padres kept hitting. Will Venable singled, then Cabrera, then Headley. Headley's scored Cabrera. With the bases loaded again, Gyorko grounded out.

7-1 Padres

9th Inning

Huston Street cannot seem to end the game. He walks Andre Ethier. Gonzalez singles for the 3rd time. Street then walks Ellis. Then a Matt Kemp sac fly scores Ethier.

Final: 7-2. Sweep complete.
