- Marquis' fastball command was off early in the game. The secondary pitches were off too. His slider improved from the 4th inning on. The change/split combo were outstanding. "Hats off to Jason", he threw a hell of game.
- Marquis has been working with Darren Balsley on a couple things and it looks like the work has paid off.
- So far this season the Padres have scored 25 runs against other teams and 29 runs against the Dodgers. Black thinks it's just coincidental. It's still too early in the season to draw any conclusions.

- The hitters were good about swinging at strikes and taking balls.
- It was good to see Alexi Amarista get 3 hits tonight. He came out of the chute a little slow. He was a big part of turning around the 2012 season. They need him now, with only 24 men on the roster. "He's a guy that has a little action on his bat."
