Padres tied for worst start in franchise history after 12 games

The 2013 Padres are off to a really bad start. Their 2-10 record foretells nothing but certain doom. In fact they're tied for having the worst start in franchise history after 12 games with the 1987 and 1994 teams.

There is good news though. Over the course of the rest of the season, the 1987 and 1994 teams were able to lift themselves up by their bootstraps and raise their 16.67% winning percentage to 40% by season's end. The 2013 Padres would also have to be swept in LA before they held the worst record all to themselves. By the 15th game every other team had at least 3 wins. In fact one of those teams that started off 3-12 was the 2012 team, the one that caught fire in the latter half and won 76 games along with the hearts and minds of San Diego baseball fans. So there's something to look forward to.

Maybe it's just me and my low expectations but I've been entertained so far. I think it's mostly because the Padres offense hasn't been as sluggish as I was expecting. Plus Chase Headley will be coming back before too long, I'm excited to see if he can reclaim his 2012 glory.
