Fairweather fans probably turned the game off after the Dodgers went up 3-0 in the second, but they missed an incredibly exciting game.
1st Inning
Eric Stults didn't get off to a great night, allowing a leadoff home run to Carl Crawford that just barely got out. It landed in the first row of left field.
1-0 Dodgers
2nd Inning
Stults had more trouble here, giving up two-run shot to A.J. Ellis in the second. It landed in the same spot as Crawford's homer.
3-0 Dodgers
4th Inning
Will Venable reached on a leadoff walk. He came around to score on Chris Denorfia's double.
3-1 Dodgers
5th Inning
The Dodgers took that run right back on a Crawford triple followed by a Mark Ellis single.
4-1 Dodgers
8th Inning
Justin Sellers tested Denorfia's arm and tried to stretch a single into a double. He was the latest victim of the Italian Cannon.
9th Inning
Things got crazy in the ninth. How crazy? Ask Corey Brock:
You're not going to believe this: Yonder Alonso is at second base to start the ninth inning. #Padres

After three batters, Yonder Alonso moved to third and Jedd Gyorko moved to second. One batter later, they swapped back. I'm pretty sure Bud Black was playing an elaborate game of musical chairs.
But that was just the top of the inning! In the bottom of the ninth, Nick Hundley picked up his fourth hit of the night, a double to center. With two outs, the Padres got a rally going. Everth Cabrera and Will Venable hit back to back singles, scoring Hundley. Then Denorfia reached first on a passed strike three while Cabrera took home and Venable moved to second.
Sadly, the tying run never made it past second base. It was a tough loss, but our boys never gave up. The bullpen pitched four scoreless innings, Hundley went 4-4, and three other Padres had a multi-hit night.
Final: 4-3 Dodgers
The Padres finish off the series behind Jason Marquis tomorrow at 7:10 PM. Zack Greinke takes the mound for the Dodgers.
