Carolyn Clark a Yahoo! Web Trend Expert, revealed new search trends for the MLB season. Although not a highly searched topic in the past year, the Padres are gaining momentum in the last month.
Apparently people on the internets have heard whispers about the Padres rising star Jedd Gyorko and they're trying to learn more about him. He's the number 3 most searched rookie in March.
The Padres have received the 3rd largest increase in the volume of searches. Since the Padres are ranked so low in the past year's list, I bet people heard about Gyorko and wanted to learn of his talents. When they saw that he belonged to the Padres they searched Yahoo! with their fingers crossed. Never having heard of the team, they checked to see if these so-called "San Diego Padres" were part of their favorite team's farm system, possibly a low A affiliate. How shocked they must have been when they learned of their Major League status.
