Little League Opening Day in 60 Seconds

New, comments

...give or take 8 seconds.

I was up at dawn and in the vicinity so I attended Little League Opening Day with my trusty camera. I took some really, really crappy video of the festivities from behind a chain link fence. The video you're watching took countless hours to edit and is a pared down version of the tens of minutes worth of footage I collected.

Padres President Tom Garfinkel, the Swinging Friar and the Pad Squad were there to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Little Padres Park. Say what you will about Former Padres Owner John Moores but that dude was instrumental in creating fields EVERYWHERE in 1998.

Clairemont Hilltoppers Little League is one of more than 50 leagues in San Diego County benefiting from the Padres’ Youth Baseball Initiative. In 2013, they handed out Padres jerseys from different eras to 14,000 youth baseball players on more than 1,000 local teams. The jerseys will ensure that these kids don't mistakenly grow up rooting for opposing teams around the country.

I didn't really get a chance to talk to anybody or conduct any interviews, so if that's what you're looking for then watch last year's video instead. But if you want to get the feeling of standing in the hot sun for over an hour in only 60 seconds then you're in the right place!
