The first televised Spring game resulted in a win. Seven Padres pitchers combined for a four hit shut out, with the help of infielders turning 4 double plays behind them. It was everything you could possibly hope for in a Spring Training game... EVERYTHING!
Former Padre and current villain Jake Peavy started the game for the White Sox. The Padres dressed him in a gimp suit and dominated him. They broke the seal in the first when Will Venable hit a soft liner to center and Chase Headley doubled him in. 1-0 Padres.
In the second Chris Denorfia singled to center. Cam Maybin and Nick Hundley were approached by Bud Black in the dugout. He ordered a double-double, the ol' In-N-Out play. Maybin and Hundley executed flawlessly and both hit doubles to left field. The Pads took a 3 run lead. Peavy was pulled an inning later unable to compete with the Padres high octane offense.
Oh, Jaff Decker also hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th. The insurance run made the final score 4-0.
Only 9 televised games left this Spring. Get 'em while you can!
