Spring Training Game Thread: 03/03 Padres vs. White Sox

Current Padres ace Clayton Richard faces former Padres ace Jake Peavy.

Mike McGinnis

Today we'll finally get our first look at Clayton Richard this Spring. Richard, who won a career-high 14 games in 2012 and is projected as our Opening Day starter this season, will make his Spring Training debut in Peoria against the Chicago White Sox. He is scheduled to pitch two innings. Anthony Bass will follow with two or three innings of his own in his second Spring Training appearance. Last week against the Reds, he tossed two shutout innings and gave up just one hit. He hopes to look just as sharp today as he continues to compete for a rotation spot.

Padres fans will see a very familiar face on the mound for Chicago as former Friar Jake Peavy toes the rubber in his own Spring Training debut. Peavy avoided free agency this past offseason when he signed a two-year contract with the White Sox. He hopes to follow up his successful 2012 season in which he went 11-12 in 32 starts, including four complete games.

Today 78% of San Diegans who subscribe to cable will be able to see catch the game on Fox Sports SD's first Spring Training broadcast of the year. You can also listen to the radio broadcast on The Mighty 1090. First pitch is at 12:05pm.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
