Apparently, people are still waiting on Cameron Maybin to have a breakout year, which I thought happened two years ago, when he scored his contract, but possibly not! So says Rantsports:
The Padres will be counting on Maybin to start the 2013 season the way he finished 2012. With his natural athletic talent and his ability to patrol Petco Park’s spacious center field, many feel Maybin is only beginning to scratch the surface on his immense potential.
So if 2011 was just a foreshock leading into the relatively slow start of 2012 he had and then we saw another foreshock in the later halves, then I ain't no seismologist, but Cameron Maybin could be breakin' some rocks this season. And by "rocks" I mean "baseballs". And by "breakin'", I mean "hitting". That's not even to mention any aftershocks that would happen, which would be me PFOB.
Don't get me wrong. I think the timing is right for Maybin. He's got less outfield to contend with on defense this season (in the form of moved in fences). He's moving into his prime years (he'll be 26 next week). He appears to be taking instruction well. this may be the year.
