1st Inning

In the bottom of the 1st Everth Cabrera did what lead-off men do. He got on base with a single to right field. Jesus Guzman did what he do, homered to left center field.

2-0 Padres

2nd Inning

Jason Marquis who is color penciled in the #3 spot of the rotation made the start with the Padres. He had the flu, which may explain why he gave up a double in the 2nd that came around to score on a passed ball by Nick Hundley and a single by Derek Holland.

2-1 Padres

4th Inning

Jedd Gyorko singled. The rest of the Padres hazed the rookie by leaving him on base.

5th Inning

Marquis who is better known for being the starting pitcher in this game became a hitter. He singled on a ground ball to center field. Not to be out done by a pitcher Chris Denorfia followed with a double to center.

3-1 Padres

6th-9th Inning

Substitutions galore and no scoring. Credit Bud Black for the subs and Huston Street and Tim Stauffer for the lack of scoring.

P.S. - Venable doubled in the 7th.
