I must have missed a couple roster moves. The Padres started Spring camp with 67 players and now after cutting 5 players today they have 60 left. I should really be paying closer attention.
The Padres have optioned LHP Jose De Paula and OF Rymer Liriano to Double-A San Antonio and reassigned RHPs Johnny Barbato and Wilfredo Boscan and C Austin Hedges to minor league camp. With today’s moves, the Padres currently have 60 players in Major League camp.
Rymer Liriano was previously diagnosed with Tommy John syndrome, which isn't a real thing, but needs season ending surgery. Johnny Barbato, Wilfredo Boscan and Austin Hedges were all non-roster invitees and were expected to report to minor league camp, once it started. They'll get more playing time down there and mature into baseball men before too long.
UPDATE: Apparently Jason Haggerty and Jerry Sullivan were previously dismissed. Thanks to Friar Fever.
