Spring Training Game Thread: 03/01 Padres @ Dodgers

Freddy Garcia and Casey Kelly will try to bounce back from rough outings.

USA Today Sports

Happy March, Gaslamp Ballers! Yesterday our Padres came out on the losing end after rallying to pull within a run late in the game. Tim Stauffer made an appearance and was just Stawesome. Also, Jaff Decker finally got over the hump and made his first hit of the Spring!

Today we'll get our first look at a division rival as our Padres travel to Camelback Ranch to take on the Dodgers. Freddy Garcia will make the start and try to have a better outing than he had in his first Spring appearance against the Mariners. He gave up three runs on seven hits in 1.2 innings. Today he is scheduled to toss two or three innings, followed by two or three frames from Casey Kelly. Kelly is also coming off a rough outing. He surrendered four runs in just one inning when he made his Cactus League debut against the Rockies.

The Dodgers have split squad games today. Zack Greinke will toe the rubber for Los Angeles at home against our Padres. Matt Kemp, who has been rehabbing from shoulder surgery, expects to make his Spring Training debut today. It will be his first game since undergoing his surgery last October, so he'll be itching to get in the batter's box and get some hits.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
