The Padres have released their promotional schedule for the 2013 season and, although it's once again looking pretty bare compared to former years, it seems like there will still be some good fun to be had at Petco Park this year, aside from watching our boys try to get to the postseason.
Friday "Parties at the Park" are still a thing, and Friday home games will feature events such as beerfests and Hispanic Heritage Night. Pre-game festivities will include food, drink, and live music from local bands (Remember when Tom Garfinkel asked his twitter followers what their favorite local bands were? Now we know why.) There will also be four Friday postgame fireworks shows throughout the season.
The Padres will host three retro nights to celebrate former Friars: May 17th will be dedicated to a 1980's PTTBNL (Padres Team To Be Named Later), June 14th will pay tribute to the '98 NL Champs, and July 12th will honor the PCL Padres.
In keeping up with tradition, Military Sundays will continue to be observed. There will be Sunday autograph signings and branch appreciation days to celebrate the different branches of the military. The Padres will also honor military spouses, children, family, and veterans. In addition to honoring the military on Sundays, the Padres will dedicate Tuesdays to First Responders in San Diego.
Every Thursday will be College Night at the ballpark with special ticket offers for college students with a valid student ID.
Some other promo schedule highlights:
- The home opener will feature a t-shirt giveaway and 2013 schedule cling. I hope the shirts are more creative than last year's.
- Chase Headley and/or bobblehead lovers mark your calendars for Saturday, April 13th.
- There will be two Beerfests (May 3rd and September 6th) and a Wine Festival (August 16th).
Full Promotional Schedule can be found here.
Single season tickets will go on sale to the general public on March 7th. Tickets for certain games will be available for reservation this Saturday at Fan Fest.
