Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

When I was an MBA student at SDSU I worked on lots of group projects. Mind numbingly boring projects about dull businesses that every student recommended should be turned into a website. It was a time when that was the answer to everything.

The students rarely expressed passion for their topic. When they did, like a young German exchange student who came alive when talking about microchips he was clapped off of his pulpit before he could take any questions from the class by a young brash student who just wanted to go home after a long day at work. If it isn't obvious, I was that  German student other guy.

Fox Sports San Diego is offering an alternative to a student's banal class project this spring. They are having SDSU's Marketing 472 classes work over the course of the semester on FSSD's promotional plan for their Padres coverage. At the end of the semester the teams will present their recommendations for FSSD's online, on-air, print, social media and signage. The winning team will help implement their plan. What fun!

"This is truly a unique program FOX has designed to help further advance the next generation of professionals," said Henry Ford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, FOX Sports San Diego. "We’re so pleased to be able to extend beyond the boundaries of Aztecs telecasts and provide something the students can take with them into the real world."

Here's a little advice from an SDSU grad living in the real world: Sign spinning mimes. Thank me later.
