Spring Training Game Thread: 02/25 Padres @ Brewers

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Today we'll get our first of two looks at Edinson Volquez before he heads out to play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. Volquez came into Spring Training projected as our No. 2 starter this season, so he might not have as much to prove as some of the other pitchers in camp, but he'll be looking to get in a couple of good outings before leaving for the WBC.

What will be really interesting is seeing how Robbie Erlin does out of the bullpen. Erlin is slated to toss two innings today as he tries to make an impression in his Spring Training debut and keep his name high on the list for possible rotation candidates. Last Fall, Erlin played in the Arizona Fall League and helped the Peoria Javelinas earn the 2012 AFL Championship title. This Spring try to live up to his performance in the AFL and earn himself a place with the big league club.

The rest of today's scheduled pitching consists of Brandon Kloess, Miles Mikolas, Johnny Barbato, Tommy Layne, and Arturo Lopez.

Milwaukee has split squad action going today. Against San Diego, they will send Hiram Burgos to the mound for the start. Burgos is expected to start the season as one of Milwaukee's top starters in Triple-A Nashville.

You can catch the action at 12:05pm on The Mighty 1090.

UPDATE: It's not on 1090 today but you can listen to the Brewers feed for free online on MLB.TV. Thanks to matthewverygood for pointing that out.
