Padres GM Josh Byrnes "not entirely" comfortable with information from busted PED user Grandal

  • The Padres spent a lot of money in July. They signed Carlos Quentin, Huston Street, Jason Marquis, Mark Kotsay and extended Chris Denorfia. They also gave raises to players like Chase Headley to avoid arbitration.
"Our team is intact, it's now a matter of finding upgrades not filling holes."
  • The goal for Quentin to play 130-135 games. "We're a different team when he's on the field."
  • It's hard for a guy like Headley to improve after last year. "He's very valuable."
  • Byrnes is really disappointed in Yasmani Grandal using PEDs. "These rules are not hard to follow." Grandal should reestablish credibility and come clean. Byrnes is "not entirely" comfortable with the information that they've received thus far from Grandal. Fowler said he was concerned as well.
The Padres are actively in the market for starting pitching going into Spring Training.
Cory Luebke is right on schedule. "We don't want him to be ahead of schedule, we want him to be on schedule".
