The Padres announced via Twitter this afternoon that something special is coming to the ballpark this winter.

Personally, I think we're going to see our own version of the Winter Classic, because nothing says marquis event like outdoor minor league hockey in San Diego. Fans on Twitter were quick to pull out their own guesses.

Of course, the smart money is probably on a soccer game (which wouldn't be a first) or an Aztec basketball game (they've played in stranger places). I'm hoping for the latter, so that we can all be reminded that Will Venable played basketball in college.
